| NEWS RELEASE June 13, 2007 OWASA plans water main work on part of South Greensboro and Roberson Streets in Carrboro from Sunday afternoon, June 17th to Monday morning, June 18th An OWASA crew plans to start water main work on South Greensboro Street at its intersection with Roberson Street and on Roberson Street from South Greensboro to Sweet Bay Place on Sunday afternoon, June 17th. OWASA expects to complete the work by Monday morning June 18th. However, as in other projects, weather and other conditions may affect the timetable. The work will involve connecting two water mains and abandoning an old main. The northbound lane of South Greensboro will be closed at its intersection with Roberson Street, and the westbound lane of Roberson will be closed from South Greensboro to Sweet Bay Place. Traffic through the work area will be slowed, and drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes. The work area will be marked with signs. Flaggers will direct drivers around the work area. One lane of traffic on South Greensboro and Roberson will be kept open to traffic as much as possible to enable access for emergency vehicles, etc. No interruption of OWASA water or sewer service or other utilities is planned. OWASA has worked with the Town of Carrboro and NC Department of Transportation to plan and schedule the work on Sunday afternoon, June 17 and Monday morning the 18 as a time when the effect on traffic flow should be limited. Anyone with questions or comments is invited to contact OWASA. (Contact information is below.)
