In the fall of 1998, OWASA began
work on a Comprehensive Water and Sewer Master Plan that was
recently completed. The master planning process was a thorough
study of the long-term needs of our drinking water and wastewater management
systems in the Carrboro-Chapel Hill area. The master plan started with
estimates of future water demand and including analyses of system needs
including adequate reservoir capacity; water treatment, distribution
and conservation; and wastewater collection, treatment and recycling.
The final step in developing the
master plan is the publication of our Capstone Report, which
provides a non-technical overview of our future including important
checkpoints and decisions that will occur in future years.
The Capstone Report is intended
to be informative and useful to our customers in understanding where
and how we are moving forward as the public water and wastewater service
utility for Carrboro and Chapel Hill. We invite you to read and to download
the Capstone Report as a guide to the future of your public water and
sewer utility, OWASA.
And, if you are interested, the
technical reports that make up the Master Plan are also available for
reading and downloading herein.
