Service Area Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation

Updated on April 2, 2012

OWASA has hired AM Liner East, Inc. to rehabilitate sewer mains in various locations throughout the service area.

What is being done?

This type of sewer rehabilitation is a method of sealing the inside of the sewer main to help prevent stormwater and groundwater from getting into the sewer and exceeding its capacity. The resealing process involves inserting a polyester tube or liner into the pipe and then hardening or ‘curing’ the liner with steam.  Once the liner has cured, a device is sent through the pipe to cut out openings to restore the service connections.

Where will AM Liner be working?

There are several locations throughout OWASA's service area.  The current list is below (click on each item to see a location map)

How long will the work last?

In most cases, the work at any particular site may last 2 to 3 days.  In some cases, the contractor will repair the pipe and the manhole(s) at different dates.

How might this work affect you?

    • Depending on where your sewer service connects to our system, we may need to temporarily interrupt sewer service to you during some of this work.  If so, the contractor will provide specific information about any service interruption prior to starting work.
    • The work will involve noise, dust and mud.
    • You may notice some steam or odor during the liner curing process.
    • Vehicular traffic will be slowed down near the work area. We will keep at least one lane open for access by emergency and service vehicles, residents/businesses/customers, etc.
