Rehabilitation of gates in the dam at the Cane Creek Reservoir
Posted on January 11, 2012
Project Description
As part of our work to maintain and protect the value, reliability and structural integrity of our water/sewer assets, we are rehabilitating the gates in our Cane Creek Reservoir Dam. These gates can be raised to allow water to pass under them to prevent possible structural damage to the earthen part of the dam if there is a very large surge of water in the lake due to a major storm.
The work on the gates involves repainting, spot repairs where needed, and replacing the rollers used in moving the gates up and down. Replacement of the rollers was not initially planned, but inspections during our contractor's work showed that this additional work is necessary.
Current status
Our contractor has completed work on five of the seven gates in the dam.
Estimated Timetable
We estimate that this project may be complete in the summer of 2012. As in other projects, weather and other factors can affect our progress.
How the Work May Affect Citizens
The project will involve noise and construction vehicle traffic to and from the work site inside our Cane Creek property.
The work will not affect our ability to store and supply water.
There will no effect on recreational use of the lake.
