Apply for OWASA’s Board of Directors

Orange County and the towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro are seeking dedicated applicants who care about their community and our most precious natural resource to serve on OWASA’s Board of Directors. The only qualification needed is a genuine desire to serve the community. Our current board members have expertise ranging from education to business to city planning.

A little about our Board: The Board of Directors is OWASA’s governing body. Appointed by the Chapel Hill Town Council (appoints 5), the Carrboro Town Council (appoints 2), and the Orange County Board of Commissioners (appoints 2), the Board addresses a variety of matters, including infrastructure investments, finance and rate setting, environmental protection, public health, and more. Board members must regularly attend Board meetings on the second Thursday of every month.

OWASA values diversity, equity, and inclusion and strongly encourages people of all socio-economic backgrounds, ethnicities, and abilities to apply. Visit owasa.org/board-of-directors for more information and links to applications.
