The American Red Cross and OWASA invite you to experience the joy of giving by donating blood at OWASA on Tuesday, April 25th. The blood drive from 10 AM to 2:30 PM will be in the Community Room on the lower floor of the Administration Building, 400 Jones Ferry Road, Carrboro. “April is National Volunteer Month. Donating blood is a simple way to make a profound difference in the lives of the most vulnerable patients,” said Maya Franklin, external communications manager of the Carolinas Blood Services Region. “We ask that you schedule an appointment to roll up a sleeve to help save a life.”
The Red Cross depends on blood donor heroes across the nation to collect enough blood to meet the needs of patients at about 2,600 hospitals nationwide. Donors of all blood types, especially type O, are needed to help those who rely on blood products.
Everyone who comes to donate at OWASA will be eligible to win one of three prizes for a $1,000 gift card shopping spree* from GiftCertificates.com. A valid e-mail address is required and other terms and conditions apply (more information is below).
Donors must be in general good health, have photo identification, weigh at least 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent). High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger must also meet certain height and weight requirements.
Parking will be available on the west side of the Administration Building (the left side of the building when seen from Jones Ferry Road), near the entrance to the Community Room.
