On Thursday, April 28th, the Orange Water and Sewer Authority, Anna Maria’s and the American Red Cross will sponsor a blood drive from 11 AM to 3:30 PM in the Community Room at the OWASA Administration Building, 400 Jones Ferry Road, Carrboro.

“As we start to prepare for the difficult summer months, it is imperative that we have an adequate blood supply,” said Ms. Caroline Allison, American Red Cross Donor Recruitment Representative for the Carolinas Blood Services Region.  She emphasized that “There is still a need for all blood types, particularly O negative and O positive.”

To participate in a blood drive, donors must be at least 17 years old (or 16 years old with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds (donors under 19 years old will have to meet certain height and weight requirements), be in general good health and have photo identification.

Anna Maria’s and OWASA will provide food for the blood drive.

Presenting donors will also be eligible to win a pair of round trip Delta Air Line tickets.
