DRINKING WATER ADVISORY:
OWASA RECOMMENDS TO CONTINUE BOILING OUR WATER AS A PRECAUTION FOR YOUR AREA
DUE TO THE POSSIBLE DETECTED OF BACTERIA
FOLLOWING A REPAIR OF A LEAK IN OUR PIPE AND INTERRUPTION OF SERVICE
Dear OWASA Customer:
We recommend that you use bottled water or boil OWASA water for one (1) minute and let it cool before using it for:
- Making ice,
- Food preparation,
- Brushing teeth, or
- Other purposes that involve consuming water
BOILING OUR WATER IS A PRECAUTION: We collected a sample of OWASA drinking water from a nearby residence. Test results indicated the sample was positive for bacteria.
This does not necessarily mean that your drinking water is unsafe. The drinking water could have contained bacteria or this positive result could have been caused by a sampling error, a laboratory error, or a false positive associated with the test material. We are taking additional samples today to confirm the previous results.
We expect to receive results from testing our drinking water within 24 hours and will notify you and other customers as needed regarding any further precautions or restrictions on using our drinking water.
