Lane closings on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard due to OWASA work

Due to work on the water system, the outer northbound lane, the center turn lane and the inner southbound lane of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be closed on Wednesday from 9 AM to 4 PM in an area south of Hillsborough Street and Umstead Drive.
One southbound lane and one northbound vehicle lane will remain open as shown on the map below. (If the map does not appear in this e-mail, please go towww.owasa.org and click the link to this news release under Latest News.)

The purpose of OWASA’s work is to maintain the quality of drinking water service to customers in the area.
The lane closing will affect southern of the two of the entrances to the shopping center on the east side of King Boulevard
The sidewalk on the east side of King Boulevard near the work area will be closed, including the bus stop near the Root Cellar Café. A temporary bus stop will be near the Bolin Creek Trail entrance on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. There will be signs posted to guide pedestrians to detours to the west side of the roadway.
“We regret any inconvenience to citizens and businesses in the area due to our work, and we ask for their patience during this necessary work,” said Randy Horton, OWASA’s Manager of the Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection Systems.
The OWASA work is subject to change due to weather and other factors.
