On Tuesday morning, an OWASA crew replaced a broken water pipe on Old Forest Creek Drive just north of its intersection with Piney Mountain Road.

OWASA learned of the damaged pipe from Orange County Emergency Services at about 3 AM and completed the repair at about 10:30 AM. Water released from the broken pipe washed away soil and nearby pavement and made it necessary to close one lane of Old Forest Creek Drive.

Early in the repair process, OWASA closed valves in water pipes to stop the water flow and reduce the number of affected customers to four.

The broken pipe was more than 30 years old and made of a type of concrete no longer used in water line installations in the OWASA system.
