OWASA Board of Directors Meeting Summary for August 26

OWASA’s Board of Directors met virtually on Thursday, August 26, 2021, and considered an agenda that included awarding a contract for the upcoming West Cameron Avenue Water Line Replacement project.

The Board of Directors is currently meeting virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

West Cameron Avenue

The Board approved awarding a construction contract for the upcoming Phase 2 West Cameron Avenue Water Line Replacement project. The project was identified for replacement as part of OWASA’s prioritized program for the continuous renewal of the water distribution
system.

Preliminary Financial Report

The Board received the Preliminary Financial Report for the 12-month period ended June 30, 2021. All financial performance targets were met during this period.

Capital Improvements Program Semiannual Report

The Board received the Capital Improvements Program Semiannual Report. Approximately $15.8 million was invested in a total of 44 active capital projects during the reporting period.

COVID-19 Response

The Board received an update on OWASA’s response to COVID-19 to ensure we continue to provide the Carrboro and Chapel Hill communities with high-quality and reliable water, wastewater, and reclaimed water services during the pandemic.
