OWASA Board of Directors Meeting Summary for September 9

OWASA’s Board of Directors met virtually on Thursday, September 9, 2021, and considered an agenda that included the annual update on OWASA’s Diversity and Inclusion Program.

The Board of Directors is currently meeting virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Diversity and Inclusion

The Board received the annual update from OWASA’s Diversity and Inclusion Program and EEO Report for Fiscal Year 2021 (FY21). Key activities for FY21 include mandating diversity and inclusion training for all employees, holding virtual sessions for OWASA staff on various topics to provide an opportunity for inclusion and connection, and approval of Juneteenth as an official OWASA holiday.

Strategic Plan

The Board received an update on the development of OWASA’s new strategic plan. Recent information gathering efforts have included stakeholder engagement sessions, departmental evaluations across OWASA, and a community survey. These results will be analyzed and help inform the next steps in the strategic plan development.

COVID-19 Response

The Board received an update on COVID-19 vaccination and screening protocols in place with local government entities. As of September 7, approximately 73% of OWASA staff have shown proof of vaccination to Human Resources and unvaccinated employees provide weekly COVID-19 tests as part of the screening process.
