OWASA Releases 2022 Water Quality Report Card

OWASA met all state and federal water regulations during the 2022 calendar year. The annual water quality report card is now available in English and Spanish. It provides details on where your water comes from, how OWASA treats your drinking water to meet regulatory standards and how we can all work together to protect our vital natural resources.

OWASA manages several specialized initiatives to maximize its ability to continue providing high-quality water to all our customers. Sustainable forest management improves the health of our forests to make them more resilient to disease and climate change impacts, allowing them to continue protecting water quality in the watershed. OWASA owns roughly 2,400 acres of forested lands, mostly in the Cane Creek watershed. Since Cane Creek Reservoir is a main water source for the Carrboro-Chapel Hill community, protecting its watershed helps safeguard water quality for the community. Learn more about OWASA’s Forest Management Program here.

The OWASA Board of Directors voted in 2022 to approve a new Long-Range Water Supply Plan. This plan is a critical element of OWASA’s mission to continue providing customers with high-quality drinking water through 2070. Learn more about our Long-Range Water Supply Plan here.

Customers and interested parties can read the report card to learn more about how the OWASA team works to serve customers every day and our commitment to protecting and supplying reliable and high-quality drinking water for decades to come.

In addition to accessing the report card online, OWASA customers will receive a postcard in the mail with highlights from the full report.
