Sewer work to close sections of Smith Level and Booth Road travel lanes on Monday, May 11th from 9 AM to 4 PM

On Monday, May 11, between 9 AM and 4 PM, short sections of travel lanes on Smith Level Road and Booth Road will be closed due to sewer renewal work by an OWASA contractor. The work schedule is subject to change due to weather and other factors.

We will maintain two-way traffic on Smith Level.

Flaggers will direct traffic in the repair area. They will temporarily stop through traffic on Smith Level to allow drivers to turn left from Smith Level to Booth Road, or to turn from Booth Road onto Smith Level. The location of the sewer work and lane closing(s) are shown below.

The purpose of the work is to help prevent wastewater overflows from the sewer by relining the pipe to seal cracks where stormwater or groundwater could get into the sewer and exceed its capacity, causing an overflow.

In April, the contractor repaired the sewer in preparation for the relining work planned for Monday.

Future renewal work in the Starpoint area is also planned next week for Tuesday and Thursday, May 12 and 14, subject to weather and other conditions. We will provide separate news releases in advance of the future work.
