Wonderful Water: Budgeting During COVID-19

The Orange Water and Sewer Authority Board of Directors will be holding a public hearing on the proposed budget on Thursday, May 28, at 7 p.m. Like many things, this public hearing will be different than in previous years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The public hearing will be held virtually as the Board considers a proposed budget and rate adjustment that does not involve a rate increase. A 5 percent increase had originally been projected for the upcoming budget, but that was altered considering the financial impact of the pandemic on the community OWASA serves.

OWASA Director of Finance and Customer Service Stephen Winters on Tuesday discussed the proposed budget on the Wonderful Water series on WCHL. You can read more about the budget and listen to that interview here.

The Board will hold a vote on the final budget and rates in June.
